Meeting a need/solution to a problem:

E.g. the advert for the Iphone is saying if you don’t have a Iphone you don’t have all the amazing apps you can get for the Iphone
The slogan is “if you don’t have a Iphone you don’t have a Iphone”. This makes you feel that if you don’t have an Iphone you don’t have a Iphone so it makes you different from the rest, its making you feel you have to have one or your not going to be able to use all the amazing things it can do,
its making you feel different from the rest. If you have this amazing phone that can do all these amazing things you can be cool and look good carrying this phone around.

E.g. if you see a advert saying that cracked heels are wrong and that its disgusting you will think if you have cracked heels that makes you disgusting, so it makes you feel you have to buy this product to make you normal. It makes you see problems that you wouldn’t of seen before or even cared about but now that someone on the TV is telling you that its wrong you feel that if you have it then people will look at your different, so it puts it in your mind so next time you have them on show you think back to that advert and then start to worry what people will think.
Adverts like this are very manipulative making you think you have to do certain things to be normal. It makes you worry about things you wouldn’t have even thought about before.  This is a very clever way of advertising because in this day and age everyone worried about what people think of them so they have to have what everyone else have to fit in and feel normal.
In some adverts they will try and make you feel you need something to be part of something and to fit in.
